New Tennis Court Construction vs. Resurfacing
A new tennis court starts with the site: layout, excavation, grading, drainage, base construction, fencing and the selected playing surface. Resurfacing is different. It renews an existing court when the underlying base is still serviceable, using cleaning, repairs, coatings and new line striping to restore the playing surface.
If the base has major settlement, recurring structural cracking or significant drainage failure, resurfacing alone may not solve the problem. We evaluate the existing condition before recommending the scope.
Tennis Court Dimensions and Site Space
An official tennis court is 78 feet long. It is 27 feet wide for singles and 36 feet wide for doubles. The construction footprint must be larger than the marked court to provide run-off space, fencing, access and safe movement around the playing area.
For residential and facility projects, the final site plan should account for property constraints, drainage, orientation, lighting and adjacent improvements before construction begins.
Base and Surface Choices
Concrete and asphalt bases each have different construction and maintenance considerations, and the appropriate base depends on the site and project.
